Dan has a B.S. in Technology Management from Golden Gate University, San Francisco. He worked at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (DOE) for 10 years as a security engineer before going to the CERT Coordination Center at Carnegie Mellon University. At CERT he built the national cybersecurity Red Team program for the Department of Homeland Security. He then joined the CERT Attack Modeling team, doing vulnerability discovery on connected cars, IoT devices, tactical cloudlets, and FPGAs. He has worked closely with DoD, DHS, and various intelligence agencies. In his spare time, he enjoys martial arts, travel, camping, hunting, music, and reading.
